About Brandon Hoops

Program Objectives

    My number one goal at Brandon is to have a First Class program.   I want my players to be looked upon as fine young men who will contribute great things to this society.  As a coach, I must do the best I can to have my players as well prepared as possible for competition and life after competition.  I feel that I owe this to the school, the players and the parents

I want Brandon High School's basketball program to not only be of the top programs in the state, but also one of the top programs in the nation.  When a family moves into this area and asks around for the top basketball program, I want the answer to be Brandon.   Brandon will be the best coached team, best conditioned team, and best disciplined team in the area.

Team Objectives

    Our team objectives are very simple - play hard, play smart, and play under control.  I tell my players to "play hard" every second they are out on the floor, Anything less than 100% and they are cheating themselves and the team.   I encourage smart play and playing together as a team.  I try to get each player to work within the team offense that we spend so much time on in practice. And finally, I want them to play under control.  Basketball is a very simple game.   We want to keep the game simple and try no to do anything fancy.

Defensive Philosophy

    Defense will set the tone for the entire season with our aggressive style of play.  We will keep constant pressure on the ball, using full - court, man - to - man, and half - court trapping defenses.  Every member of the team will be in tip - top condition and we will eventually wear down the competition.

Offensive Philosophy

    Our aggressive style of defense puts us in a position to play a fast tempo style of basketball, We will push the ball up the floor every opportunity.  We will also run a motion offense and work to get high percentage shots.  We will be a fundamentally sound team and control the tempo of the game.
